After you have received the e-mail with the link to the download area please click on the link and select the version appropriate for your edition of Family Tree Maker and download the installation package and manuals you need.
How do I install Family Book Creator?
For installation, you must be logged in as administrator on your system. In most versions of Windows you will need to be logged in as administrator. Alternatively you can right click on the executable file name and select 'run as administrator'.
Family Tree Maker has to be closed before starting the installation of Family Book Creator.
Select the Family Book Creator installation file (For example FamilyBookCreator2017_23.14.343.565_en.exe) you downloaded from the Family Book Creator website and double click it.
Depending on your Windows security setup you may be prompted to confirm you wish to continue. For example, in Windows 8 you may get a message saying "Windows protected your PC from installing an unknown application" - in this case you should click the "More info" option and then confirm you wish to install Family Book Creator by clicking on the "Run anyway" button.
If your Internet Security application prevents you from installing Family Book Creator you may have a look at “Disabling Internet Security Auto-protect while installing Family Book Creator?“ or you just need to allow the installation to proceed.
After the unpacking process of the protected installation package was successful the welcome screen of the Installation Wizard is going to be launched and you can continue the installation by using the Installation Wizard. The installation wizard will take you through the installation steps. Follow the instructions of the individual steps given by the installation wizard.
Note: The installer will check if a proper Family Tree Maker installation is available on the system. It is not possible to install Family Book Creator without a Family Tree Maker installation on your system.
Install Family Book Creator into its default destination folder (For example: C:\Program Files\Family Book Creator 2017\). Do not select a Family Tree Maker folder!
After the installation has been completed and Family Tree Maker has been restarted, Family Book Creator can be opened as follows:
- Open the ‘Tools’ menu and select the menu entry ‘Plugins’.
- From the drop down menu select ‘Export with Plugin’.
- By clicking on ‘Export with Plugin’ Family Book Creator will be available.
You need to open a family file first to be able to open the export menu!
How do I uninstall Family Book Creator?
Please find below some instructions for uninstalling "Family Book Creator 2019":
Windows 10/11:
- Select the Start button, then select Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
- Select the app (Family Book Creator 2019) you want to remove, and then select Uninstall.
Windows 7:
- Start by clicking on the Windows icon.
- In the right pane, click on Control Panel.
- Under Programs click on the item Uninstall a program.
- Windows then lists all programs that were installed using Windows Installer. Select the program (Family Book Creator 2019) you want to uninstall by clicking on it.
